German caregivers struggle with exhaustion, emotional strain, and lack of recognition

A recent YouGov survey reveals the emotional and physical toll on German caregivers. The majority of respondents, aged 18 to 65, shared their experiences and challenges. Caregivers often feel overwhelmed, with 36% experiencing this frequently. This is compounded by feelings of exhaustion, with half of caregivers reporting this issue. The demanding nature of caregiving also leads to physical complaints, with 22% experiencing these due to their duties. Psychological well-being is also affected, as 32% of caregivers report mental health complaints. Fear of making mistakes is prevalent, with 26% of caregivers expressing this concern. Despite their efforts, only 14% feel sufficiently recognized and valued in society, while just 17% are proud of their caregiving. Caregivers in Germany face significant emotional and physical challenges, with many feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and undervalued. These findings highlight the need for better support and recognition for caregivers.
