Further step towards Buga 2035 in Dessau-Roßlau - Further step towards Buga 2035 in Dessau-Roßlau
Dessau-Roßlau will host the 2035 Federal Horticultural Show (Buga). The city in Saxony-Anhalt secured the event after residents voted in favour during a December 2024 referendum. Officials have now signed and notarised the shareholder agreement for the organising company, marking the start of preparations.
The decision to bring Buga 2035 to Dessau-Roßlau follows strong local support. In a public vote last December, residents backed the bid, paving the way for the city’s involvement. The event’s motto, ‘A City Becomes BUGA’, reflects its role in shaping urban growth.
The newly formed nonprofit company, Buga Dessau-Roßlau 2035 gGmbH, will now begin its work. Lord Mayor Robert Reck called the show a key part of the city’s development plans. Saxony-Anhalt has hosted the event twice before—in Magdeburg (1999) and the Havel region (2015). Before Dessau-Roßlau, the Buga will visit the Ruhr region (2027), the Middle Rhine Valley (2029), Wuppertal (2031), and Dresden (2033). Each location follows a long tradition of showcasing horticulture, urban planning, and regional culture.
With the shareholder agreement finalised, the organising team can now move forward. The 2035 Buga will mark Dessau-Roßlau’s first time hosting the event. Planning will focus on integrating the show into the city’s long-term development strategy.
