Fulda Diocese Honors 21 Climate and Species Protection Initiatives with New Sustainability Prize

The prize aims to showcase outstanding efforts while fostering connections for shared learning and collaboration.

Two top awards of €3,000 each went to NABU Neuhof and Franciscan Gymnasium Kreuzburg Großkrotzenburg. NABU Neuhof earned recognition for its extensive species protection and renaturation work. Meanwhile, the Franciscan Gymnasium was honoured for its long-standing commitment to environmental and sustainability management.

Three further projects received €1,000 apiece for their significant contributions. An additional 16 initiatives were awarded either €500 or €250 for their sustainability efforts. The diocese did not disclose who initiated the prize.

The awards form part of the Diocese of Fulda’s broader sustainability drive. This includes an integrated climate action plan and multiple initiatives across parishes and affiliated institutions.

The Sustainability Prize highlights the diocese’s focus on environmental responsibility. By funding diverse projects, it supports ongoing work in climate protection, species conservation, and sustainable practices. The event also encouraged networking among participants for future collaboration.
