FTU Launches Pioneering Research Lab to Elevate Academic Standards in Vietnam
The Foreign Trade University (FTU) has launched the FTU Research Lab (FRL), a new initiative aimed at boosting research standards. This move marks FTU as the first university in Vietnam's economics and business sector to adopt such a model. The lab is designed to strengthen academic partnerships and elevate the institution's research capabilities. The FTU Research Lab will operate as a hub for high-quality research, aligning its work with international standards. Its goals include fostering global academic collaborations and mobilising both domestic and foreign resources for knowledge transfer.
Dr Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Director and Chief Economist of DEPOCEN, has been named the lab's director. Under his leadership, the FRL plans to identify and develop talented scholars capable of producing research that meets global benchmarks.
FTU has also secured support for the lab through a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Society of Vietnam Economists (ISVE). University President Pham Thu Hong emphasised that investing in science, technology, and innovation remains a core part of FTU's long-term strategy. The lab is expected to play a key role in advancing these priorities. The FTU Research Lab represents a step toward positioning FTU among the region's leading universities. By focusing on research excellence and international cooperation, the lab aims to enhance the university's academic reputation. Its success will depend on sustained investment and the ability to attract top researchers.
