Foundation organizes school fundraising event at Slater's Market, named Concrete Rose.

The Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation is set to host a back-to-school fundraiser and supply drive on Thursday, August 21. This charitable event will take place at Slater's Market, located at 1552 Potomac Greens Drive in Alexandria.

The purpose of the event is twofold: to raise funds for scholarships and educational resources for underserved girls, and to collect school supplies for local students in need. The foundation encourages community members to bring new school supplies or make financial contributions during the event.

Acceptable donations include backpacks (new or gently used), notebooks, writing supplies, binders, loose-leaf paper, Chromebooks with chargers, and more. Slater's Market, a wine, cheese, and sandwich shop that opened in 2020, is generously offering its space for the event.

Scott Shirley, the owner of Slater's Market, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that it's more than just a fundraiser. It's a chance for the community to support youth and plant seeds for a brighter future.

Andrea Walton, the founder and CEO of The Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation, added that guests will enjoy light refreshments while having the opportunity to make a direct impact in preparing students for the academic year.

All proceeds and donations from the event will go directly towards scholarships and educational support for students in Alexandria and beyond. For more information, visit theconcreterosescholarship.com.

So, mark your calendars for Thursday, August 21, and join the Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation in their mission to support local students and empower the next generation.
