Florida Launches 'Club America' for High Schools, Offering $50K Scholarship

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has partnered with Turning Point USA to launch 'Club America' chapters in high schools across the state. The initiative aims to promote civics and free discourse, with the Charlie Kirk Prize serving as its flagship event. The championship, set for April 5, 2026, at New College, promises substantial scholarships and national recognition for top competitors.

The Charlie Kirk Prize, named in memory of the late Charlie Kirk, will offer significant financial rewards. The winner will receive a $50,000 scholarship, with the runner-up taking home $25,000. Semi-finalists will each receive $15,000, and quarter-finalists will receive $10,000. These prizes are funded through private donations to the Florida Education Foundation.

The championship event is expected to draw over 600 participants. The top two competitors will not only win scholarships but also secure invitations to the national Ronald Reagan presidential debate in California. The Club America chapters, affiliated with Turning Point USA, will play a crucial role in preparing students for such prestigious competitions.

Governor DeSantis' initiative, in partnership with Turning Point USA, seeks to foster speech and debate skills among Florida high school students. The Charlie Kirk Prize, with its substantial scholarships and national recognition, serves as a powerful incentive, encouraging students to hone their critical thinking and communication skills. The launch of Club America chapters statewide promises to make this initiative a lasting impact on Florida's education landscape.
