Münster’s City Museum is offering two special events before the new year. On December 28, families can explore childhood history in a guided tour, while a documentary on African-German theatre collaboration screens on December 30. Both activities highlight the museum’s diverse cultural programme this winter.

The first event, Reiner Kinderkram, takes place on December 28 at 3 p.m. This guided tour examines how children lived in past centuries, with stories and objects from the museum’s collection. Suitable for children aged six and older, tickets cost €5, or €3 at the reduced rate. Participants should gather in the museum foyer before the tour begins.

Starting December 26, a striking photograph of Lake Aasee’s frozen surface in December 1969 will be displayed in the museum’s window exhibit on Salzstraße. The large-format image offers a glimpse into Münster’s winter history.

On December 30 at 4 p.m., the museum’s cinema will screen Unity in Diversity, a documentary about an African-German theatre project. The film follows three theatre groups from Ghana and Kenya as they collaborate on performances about sustainability, developed during a workshop in Tamale, Ghana. After the screening, Barbara Kemmler, artistic director of Cactus Junges Theater e.V., will host a Q&A with director Elikem Ayeke and co-organiser Kwabena Bosompem.

The guided tour and documentary screening provide opportunities to engage with history and contemporary culture. Reiner Kinderkram invites families to discover childhood traditions, while Unity in Diversity showcases international artistic exchange. Both events take place at the City Museum Münster before the year ends.
