FAB LA Transforms a Historic Landmark into a Bold New Art Hub

A new art gallery, FAB LA, has opened in one of Los Angeles' most iconic buildings. Founded by pop artist Kii Arens, it now occupies the first two floors of the historic Fine Arts Building. Its latest exhibition, 'And the Winner Is', will showcase poster art of Grammy-winning musicians when it opens on 28 February 2026.

The Fine Arts Building at 811 W. 7th Street has stood as a downtown landmark for a century. Built in 1926, its grand, palace-like design—complete with ornate sculptures—drew an estimated 27,000 visitors on its opening day. In 1974, the city named it a Historic-Cultural Monument.

Arens, a largely self-taught artist, has long been known for his bold concert posters. His work spans bands like Radiohead, Elton John, and Dolly Parton, as well as album covers and tour visuals. His experimental style and focus on pop culture as a shared experience fit naturally with the building's rich history.

FAB LA follows Arens' previous projects, including 'XO, LA: A Love Letter to Los Angeles' and 'Mick Rock's Rocky Horror Art Show'. The gallery's new exhibition will celebrate Grammy winners through his distinctive poster designs.

The Fine Arts Building continues to evolve as a cultural hub. Arens' takeover of its first two floors has transformed the space into a dynamic art destination. 'And the Winner Is' will mark the latest chapter in both the artist's career and the building's legacy.
