Executive Development Initiative Introduced for Sustainable Business Practices, Carbon Market Regulations, and Environmental, Social, and Governance Matters

As calls for robust digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems and verifiable climate action escalate, the need for credible, cross-sector ESG education has never been more urgent. In response to this demand, the School of Law at Dhirubhai Ambani University (DAU) has launched an Executive Development Program (EDP) focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Carbon Markets, and Sustainability.

A Comprehensive Learning Experience

The program, scheduled to run from September 20th to December 14th, 2025, offers a unique learning experience that combines academic rigor with real-world insights. It is an industry-academic collaboration involving Axis Max Life Insurance, Varaha, and Dhir & Dhir Associates. Participants will benefit from live expert lectures delivered by industry practitioners and legal experts from these partner institutions.

Preparing Future ESG Leaders

The program aims to equip India's future ESG leaders with tools for responsible and effective leadership. With the surge in climate-focused regulation and finance, there is a growing need for a new generation of professionals well-versed in ESG frameworks, legally sound sustainability practices, and carbon market instruments. The program is designed to prepare professionals for the rapidly evolving sector of the global economy.

Eligibility and Features

While specific eligibility criteria for the program are not detailed, it is generally aimed at mid- and senior-level professionals in law, finance, energy, and sustainability. Entrepreneurs and consultants entering the carbon and sustainability space are also eligible. The program's curriculum is grounded in law, finance, technology, and policy, providing a comprehensive understanding of the ESG and sustainability landscape.

The program offers a joint certification co-issued by Dhirubhai Ambani University School of Law and the program's industry partners. It also provides post-program mentorship for applying learning to real-world challenges and careers. Additionally, the program offers networking opportunities with industry leaders and academics in the field.

India's carbon markets are on the cusp of transformative change due to the establishment of a national Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) under the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2022. The government's move could potentially create the world's largest regulated carbon market by 2030. The program is a timely and practical response to India's regulatory, environmental, and market shifts.

Applications for the program are currently open. For enrolment details and program structure, there is a link provided. The program offers alumni status, granting lifelong access to an exclusive professional network and ongoing engagement. This Executive Development Program (EDP) at DAU is a significant step towards meeting the growing demand for ESG and sustainability expertise in India and beyond.
