European Regional Development Fund to facilitate execution of the project via the Commission's initiative.
In the heart of Lower Bavaria, a significant educational development is underway. The Landshut district, in collaboration with the city of Vilsbiburg, has initiated the construction of the largest Realschule in the region, scheduled for completion in 2028.
The new school, part of a modern and future-proof school center at Gobener Straße, will cater to up to 1,200 students. With an investment of around 90 million euros, the Landshut district is demonstrating its commitment to providing top-notch education facilities.
The planning team for the new construction includes project management, an architectural team, and numerous other stakeholders. While the specific planning group is not explicitly named in the search results, Raith Architekten, known for their work on large school projects in Bavaria, could potentially be involved.
Peter Dreier, Landrat of the Landshut district, underscores the importance of educating young people, stating, "Educating young people is the most important task of a society."
The new Realschule is designed with sustainability in mind. It will feature an innovative ice storage system for sustainable energy supply, aiming to minimise its environmental footprint. The school will also be built in reinforced concrete skeleton construction and will incorporate wooden modules for an attractive design.
To ensure minimal disruption during construction, the outdoor facilities will undergo renovation and new construction, allowing for continued operation of the school. The Maximilian von Montgelas Gymnasium, neighbouring the new Realschule, has already undergone renovation and expansion.
The construction of the new Realschule also takes traffic situation and urban development into consideration. Thomas Stöckl, head of the district-owned construction department, explained the ice storage system and the considerations made to ensure the school's construction aligns with the local environment.
The school management, led by Marco Schönauer, appreciates the excellent cooperation between the Landshut district, the city of Vilsbiburg, and various stakeholders. With the new Realschule set to meet all future school requirements, it promises to be a beacon of educational excellence in Lower Bavaria.
