EU Elections Spark Citizen Interest, Religious Leader Calls for Prayer and Participation
The upcoming EU elections on 6-9 June have sparked interest among European citizens, with 73% believing EU decisions impact their daily lives and expecting a higher turnout. Meanwhile, religious leaders like Valeriu Ghiletchi, a Baptist pastor and former European Baptist Federation president, are encouraging participation and prayer for the EU's future.
Ghiletchi, who leads the European Christian Political Movement (ECPM), is a prominent voice in this realm. He chairs a group uniting 5 MEPs from various countries, working to protect life, defend freedoms, and support families. Notably, he successfully pushed for a resolution tackling intolerance against Christians at the Council of Europe.
Despite the lack of public information about the ECPM's Spitzenkandidat for the next five years, Ghiletchi has been actively engaged in EU politics. He debated with Ursula Von Der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, at the 'Maastricht Debate'. His goal is to influence EU decisions over the next term, aligning with citizens' concerns about poverty, public health, jobs, and defense and security.
As the EU elections approach, Ghiletchi's efforts reflect a growing interest in EU affairs among European citizens. His work with ECPM and his influence on EU policies highlight the importance of religious leaders and political movements in shaping the EU's future.
