Electric vehicle promotion research kick-off in Pakistan: Cost-benefit assessment investigation set to commence

Want to catch up on the latest electric vehicle (EV) scene in Pakistan? You've come to the right place! The Ministry of Industries and Production is leading the charge, collaborating with various stakeholders to initiate a research study on the cost-benefit analysis of promoting EVs nationwide.

The decision was made at a pivotal meeting of the Electric Vehicle Policy Steering Committee, held in mid-Thursday under the supervision of none other than the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan.

The meeting was a melting pot of representatives from various key federal ministries, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Prime Minister's Office. Their main objective? To assess the progress of Pakistan's NEV Policy 2025-2030.

You might be wondering, why the fascination with electric vehicles? Well, it's all about reducing our carbon footprint and embracing a greener, cleaner future. By promoting EVs, Pakistan aims to cut back on its reliance on imported fuel, slash environmental pollution, and make a substantial contribution to climate change financing.

But wait, there's more! The chose to engage graduate and post graduate university students, as well as other professionals, to conduct a countrywide study on EV costs and benefits. To aid their research, around 4,000 electric vehicles—including two and three wheelers—will be provided on subsidized rates.

The ultimate goal? To take Pakistan's total number of EVs to 2.2 million by 2030, with the majority being two and three wheelers. As of now, at least 61 vendors have secured licenses to contribute to this eco-friendly movement.

But the study doesn't stop there; its results will be shared with international bodies like the IMF and the World Bank to attract further support in the fight against climate change.

So buckle up, everyone! We're jumping headfirst into the electric vehicle revolution. Here's to a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable transportation system for all! 🚗⚡️🇵🇰🌐

Psst! The government is also preparing an extensive subsidy scheme for electric vehicles, and we're all set to invest Rs. 9 billion towards encouraging EV adoption in the upcoming fiscal year. Preliminary analyses suggest substantial long-term savings and reduced dependency on imported fossil fuels.[1][2][3][4][5] 💸🎉🏁
