Elder care workers share unexpected joys and challenges at Gulielminetti’s networking event
Trainees and experienced staff from Gulielminetti Senior Living and Nursing Home recently met for the Guli-Treff main event at Café Greinwald in Marktoberdorf. The gathering focused on networking, sharing experiences, and discussing the realities of working in elder care. Since 2020, nursing training in Germany has required a generalised approach, including placements outside the trainee’s main facility. Renate Dauner, who has worked at Gulielminetti for nearly three decades, highlighted the trainees’ resilience. She noted their ability to stay positive despite difficult moments. The team also emphasised the supportive atmosphere at the facility, which helps both new and long-serving staff navigate the demands of elder care. Conversations covered the highs and lows of the job, from emotional connections with residents to the practical skills needed for the role. Many shared stories of unexpected rewards, proving that the profession offers more than they initially expected.
