EfM Marks 50th Anniversary With New Courses and Online Portal
Education for Ministry (EfM) marks its 50th anniversary in 2025. Since its inception, over 120,000 people have taken the course. To celebrate, EfM offers new, shorter options and an online portal on platforms like Coursera and Udemy.
EfM began in 1975 as Theological Education by Extension. Now, it introduces EfM: Wide Angle, a one-year course, and renames the traditional four-year option EfM: Classic. An online portal on Pathwright will launch in September, offering part of the four-year curriculum.
The anniversary celebration, June 5-8 at the University of the South, features the Rev. Stephanie Spellers as keynote speaker and a concert by Lilli Lewis. A book of essays, 'Education for Ministry - 50 Years of Engaging, Responding, and Reflecting', and Education for Ministry-related seminars will also be part of the festivities. Additionally, EfM: Reflections, a series of short study groups, will explore contemporary theological topics.
With over 120,000 alumni, EfM's anniversary celebrates its impact. New course options and an online portal aim to engage more people in theological formation on online course platforms. The upcoming celebration promises insightful discussions and inspiring events.
