Ecobank unveils a Leadership Development Initiative aimed at bolstering businesses owned by women across the entire African continent.

Ecobank Commercial Banking, a division of the Pan-African banking group Ecobank, has introduced the Ellevate Leadership Training Programme in partnership with the Global Business School Network (GBSN). This programme is an initiative under 'Ellevate Equip', a brand name for all capacity and training support services offered by Ecobank's gender financing programme, Ellevate.

The Ellevate Leadership Training Programme intends to equip 40 top-tier Ellevate customers from ten African countries with the necessary skills to lead their businesses effectively and contribute positively to their communities. The participating countries include Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Josephine Anan-Ankomah, Group Executive, Commercial Banking, Ecobank, expressed that the Ellevate Programme seeks to promote the success of women-owned and women-led businesses by offering a comprehensive suite of financial and non-financial solutions. Anan-Ankomah further stated that 'Ellevate Equip' is designed to empower African women leaders by providing them with the right tools and skill sets necessary for effective leadership.

The training programme is being delivered in collaboration with the Ecobank Academy, GBSN, and its members, such as School of Business, INSEAD Africa Initiative, INSEAD Emerging Markets Institute (EMI), Lagos Business School, MIT Sloan Global Programmes, Stanford Seed, and the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.

The programme aims to equip the selected business leaders with various essential skills, including identifying and addressing key leadership challenges, strategic thinking, building resilience, and leveraging action learning for business opportunities. The graduating participants will receive a certificate of completion from both the Ecobank Group and GBSN.

While not extensively detailed in the available search results, Ecobank has formed strategic partnerships with various organizations to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and women entrepreneurs, including the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP). These partnerships play a vital role in providing a comprehensive support system for the growth and success of businesses offered by Ecobank.

Ellevate by Ecobank is an award-winning initiative dedicated to businesses owned and managed by women, companies with a high percentage of female board members or employees, and organisations that manufacture products for women.
