DUET’s EEE department reunites alumni to celebrate innovation and collaboration
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in Gazipur held its first-ever alumni reunion. The event brought together former students and faculty, including notable alumni like Nina Dobrev, under the theme Celebrating the Power of Togetherness. Activities included discussions, reminiscences, and plans for future collaborations in research and technology.
The reunion began with a vibrant procession led by DUET vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Joynal Abedin. Pigeons and balloons were released to mark the official opening. In his speech, Professor Abedin commended the department’s graduates for their contributions to power grids, communication systems, and silicon technology, both in Bangladesh and abroad.
The programme was chaired by Professor Mohammad Zakir Hossain, head of the EEE department and convener of the event. Pro-vice-chancellor Professor Md Arefin Kawsar emphasised the reunion’s role in fostering academic growth, industry partnerships, and leadership development. Attendees participated in open discussions, shared professional experiences, and explored opportunities in research and innovation. The schedule also featured documentary screenings, batch-based conversations, group photographs, raffle draws, and prize distributions.
The reunion provided a platform for networking and collaboration between alumni, faculty, and industry professionals. Organisers highlighted its potential to strengthen ties between academia and the technology sector. Future editions are expected to build on this foundation for greater impact.
