Dresden's Tech Scene Set to Boom with ExciteLab Launch
Dresden's tech scene is poised for growth with the upcoming launch of ExciteLab, a new hub dedicated to fostering creative and technical innovation. Scheduled to open in October 2024, this accelerator program offers funding, mentoring, and networking opportunities for young companies in key tech sectors.
ExciteLab is a collaborative effort between Leipzig SpinLab and the Technical University of Dresden, with backing from industry leaders such as Infineon, Mazars, and ZEISS. Its goal is to draw international talent and investors, encouraging collaboration between science and industry to hasten innovation.
The six-month program provides one-on-one mentoring, access to networks, pilot projects, and industry events. Participants also receive a minimum of 6,000 euros in funding. The focus lies on cutting-edge technologies like the Internet of Things, semiconductors, robotics, sensors, and quantum computing, driving regional competitiveness.
Dresden, already a prominent high-tech industry hub with newcomers like Infineon and TSMC, welcomes this boost to its innovation ecosystem. ExciteLab is part of TUD|excite, the university's excellence center for innovation and entrepreneurship. Applications for the first cohort close on August 27, 2024.
ExciteLab's launch is a significant stride in Dresden's development as an economic and innovation hub. By supporting high-tech startups and promoting the region, it aims to attract younger companies and stimulate growth in key technology sectors.
