Discussion at the "Work - But How?" conference: Innovative viewpoints for immigrants and refugees with disabilities in the workforce

In the historic city of Regensburg, Germany, the Inclusion Circle "Flight. Migration. Disability" is set to host a specialist congress titled "Work - but how?" on September 25, 2025, at the Diözesanzentrum Obermünster. This event is a significant part of the Intercultural Weeks Regensburg 2025 and aims to address the question of how to create fair access to the labor market for migrant and refugee people with disabilities.

The congress is organized jointly by the Inclusion Circle "Flight. Migration. Disability" and the Supplementary Independent Participation Advice (EUTB), with support from Handicap International / Projekt Crossroads, the Catholic Adult Education Regensburg, the Integration Council of the City of Regensburg, and the Regensburg County Administration.

The morning session will commence with greetings from regional politicians, representatives of the Bavarian Ministry, and keynote speeches, including from Claire Deery and Silvia Floris, likely experts or professionals in the fields of work and society. A moderated panel discussion with audience participation will follow.

State Councilor Tanja Schweiger has expressed her support for the congress, stating that it offers an opportunity for comprehensive information, experience exchange, and the discovery of practical approaches.

Claire Deery and Silvia Floris are speakers at the congress, but specific professional details about them are not publicly available at this time.

The congress is not the first initiative by the Inclusion Circle "Flight. Migration. Disability". Founded in 2020, the circle was awarded the Inclusion Prize of the Upper Palatinate District in 2022. In 2025, a conference titled "Strengthen cooperation, further develop guiding principle, promote cooperation" was held in Erfurt, where numerous representatives of the around 500 EUTB advisory centers discussed the particular challenges of double discrimination.

The afternoon session will feature a World Café for exchange, where participants will discuss topics such as the elimination of barriers, forms of level support, successful practice examples, and the role of companies as key actors. The venue for the "Work - but how?" congress is barrier-free.

Registrations for the congress are possible until September 15, 2025. For more information and registration, contact L. Keil at [email protected] or Tel.: 0941 4009-371, A. Goldberg at [email protected] or Tel.: 0171 577-4587, or S. Gut-Artemiak at [email protected] or Tel.: 0941 463-76151.

This congress promises to be a significant event in the ongoing efforts to ensure equal opportunities for all in the labor market, particularly for migrants and refugees with disabilities.
