Dimitri Bukiya Donates Father's Paintings to Tbilisi Museum
Dimitri Bukiya has donated three paintings by his renowned father, Vladimir Bukiya, to the Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts. This generous act is part of a larger plan to contribute a total of 33 of his father's works to the museum. The event, celebrated by Tbilisi's intellectuals and art enthusiasts, was organized by Neli Kobiashvili.
Vladimir Bukiya, a distinguished Georgian painter, graduated from the Georgian Academy of Fine Art in 1976. His works have been exhibited in various countries, including Georgia, Estonia, Russia, France, Spain, and America. Dimitri's donation follows a trend of Georgian artists living abroad contributing to their homeland's art scene. Other notable artists like Vladimir Kandelaki and Otar Shiukashvili have also exhibited their works in Georgia.
The Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, highlighted the importance of such events for Georgia's cultural continuity. She noted that these contributions help define and promote the nation's unique cultural identity. Famous Georgian sculptor Gya Japaridze spoke about Vladimir Bukiya's life, works, and personality at the event.
