Dhaka University’s fierce battle for 2,934 seats draws 107,000 hopefuls
The University of Dhaka held admission tests for its first-year bachelor’s programmes in arts, law and social sciences on Saturday. Over 107,000 candidates competed for just 2,934 available seats. Exams took place across Dhaka and seven other university centres nationwide.
The tests were organised by the university’s Office of the Controller of Examinations. Three faculties—the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Social Sciences—oversaw the process for the 2025–26 academic year.
The admission process for arts, law and social sciences has now concluded. Results will determine which of the 107,701 applicants secure one of the 2,934 places. The science subject tests remain the final stage in this year’s admissions cycle.
