Detroit students sell handmade furniture at Small Business Saturday showcase

Students in Detroit will display and sell their handmade furniture this weekend. The event, hosted on Eventbrite, is part of Small Business Saturday and will feature pieces crafted through a local Ashley Furniture-style woodshop programme. Visitors can purchase unique items while supporting young creators in the community.

The showcase takes place at the Atlantic Impact warehouse on 2791 E. Grand Blvd. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. Atlantic Impact, a nonprofit organisation, runs the woodshop programme where students learn design, tool handling, and specialised techniques.

Handcrafted items will include Detroit-inspired benches and themed chairs. Prices start at £20 for cutting boards and go up to £50 for chairs. Each piece reflects the skills students have developed through the programme.

The event gives students a chance to sell their work and gain real-world experience. Shoppers will find one-of-a-kind furniture while contributing to a programme that teaches practical skills. All sales will take place directly at the Atlantic Impact warehouse.
