Delhi University celebrates 102nd convocation with record 1.2 lakh graduates

Delhi University (DU) held its 102nd convocation ceremony, where degrees were awarded to 1,20,408 students. The graduates completed their undergraduate, postgraduate, and FYUP programmes in 2025. Vice President C P Radhakrishnan addressed the gathering, calling the students the 'architects of the vision for a Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

The ceremony saw over 1.2 lakh students receive their degrees. Among the 132 gold and silver medals awarded, 47 were won exclusively by female students. Radhakrishnan highlighted that more than 70% of the gold medallists were women.

He praised DU's expansion, noting its 16 faculties, 86 departments, and over 6 lakh students. The university also includes 90 colleges, 20 halls and hostels, and more than 30 research centres. Admissions, he observed, fill up quickly, with cut-offs often reaching 98%.

Radhakrishnan emphasised the role of universities in fostering research, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He urged institutions to blend Indian realities with global competitiveness. Addressing the graduates, he stressed the importance of lifelong learning and warned against narcotic drugs.

The vice president credited DU's growth to the combined efforts of teachers, administrators, and students. He reiterated that the graduates would shape India's future as envisioned in Viksit Bharat.

The convocation marked a milestone for DU, with a record number of degrees conferred. Female students dominated the medal tally, reflecting academic excellence. The event underscored the university's role in preparing graduates for national development by 2047.
