Park University was at the forefront of various events and achievements last week, with faculty members and students making significant contributions in diverse fields.

On November 6, Matt Harris, Ph.D., associate professor of political science at Park University, graced KCTV's website and Facebook page for a comprehensive 60-minute interview. Dr. Harris provided insightful analysis on the unexpected victory of Donald Trump in the presidential election, local election results, and Kamala Harris' concession speech.

In the world of sports, Park University student-athletes shone brightly. A total of 61 student-athletes earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honours, a testament to their commitment to academic excellence.

The cross country team participated in the NAIA Cross Country National Championship in Columbia, Missouri, on November 22. Four runners from Park University took part in the event, but the official results regarding team rankings and a complete participant list could not be found in the search results. Meanwhile, in the women's 6,000 meter race, Lily Brecheisen, a freshman from the Parkville Campus, finished 267th with a time of 24:40.0. Cayden Walker, another freshman from the Parkville Campus, placed 148th with a time of 25:27.7, while Lukas Mehl, a sophomore, finished 134th with a time of 25:22.3. Maryan Sharif, a senior from the Gilbert Campus, placed 264th with a time of 24:37.4.

The Parkville Campus women's soccer team and the Gilbert Campus women's soccer team added 9 individuals each to the list of honorees. The Parkville Campus women's volleyball program led Park's teams with 10 individuals being recognised.

In the realm of arts, Strings students from the International Center for Music at Park University performed on KPR's "Classical Music in the Morning" on November 7. The performers included Victor Diaz, Aviv Daniel, Yuren Zhang, Nikita Korzukhin, James Farquhar, Ilkhom Mukhiddinov, Christian dos Santos, Mumin Turgunov, and pianist Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich.

Ali Mammadov, a graduate certificate student in piano performance in Park University's International Center for Music, also appeared live on Kansas Public Radio's "Classical Music in the Morning" program on November 6.

Academically, Dr. Jack MacLennan, a senior director for strategic initiatives and communications and associate professor of political science at Park University, was appointed to the St. Thomas University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

In the political sphere, Dr. Harris provided comments for a story published in the Kansas City Star on November 11, explaining why a key KC-area Senate district that flipped to Republican is a "seismic shift." He was also interviewed by KMBZ-FM for stories related to what went wrong for Democrats across the country in the election on November 8 and for stories that aired on KCTV related to Missouri voters passing Amendment 2 on November 6, which will allow sports betting in the state.

Lastly, Zackery Fritz was named the HAAC Esports League of Legends Player of the Year for the second straight season, and Noah Yalu was selected as the GSAC Freshman of the Year in men's soccer.

Park University continues to excel in various fields, with its students and faculty making significant contributions.
