Customary token of appreciation: gingerbread hearts

In the heart of Ibbenbüren, on a Friday morning of September 5, 2025, a special event took place at the AWO Senior Center on Weber Street. Mayor Dr. Marc Schrameyer, accompanied by the melodious tunes of a barrel organ, paid a visit to express his gratitude to the residents of Ibbenbüren.

This annual tradition, now continued for many years, is a recurring social event that marks the Mayor's appreciation for the great cooperation he receives from the community every year. The event is particularly significant as it takes place during the fair season, with the view of the fair setup, including the Ferris wheel, providing a unique backdrop from the Senior Center.

The visit to the AWO Senior Center is not just a social event but also a token of thanks for the residents' understanding during the fair. The gingerbread hearts distributed during the visit are part of this tradition, symbolising sweetness and appreciation.

The proximity of the Senior Center to the fair has its advantages and disadvantages. While the short distance to the fair is convenient, the noise right in front of the Senior Center's door can be a minor inconvenience.

Despite the lack of detailed information about the Showmen's Association that annually stays at the AWO-Altenheim location in Ibbenbüren, the annual visit to the Senior Center remains a cherished tradition. The Mayor, Dr. Marc Schrameyer, thanked the residents for their patience during the fair and emphasised his gratitude for their cooperation.

The planned route for the Showmen's Association on Monday is not far from the AWO Senior Center, ensuring that the spirit of gratitude and camaraderie continues to thrive in Ibbenbüren.
