Current scenes and situations in everyday life
In the heart of Texas, as the autumn leaves begin to change, one author is embarking on a personal journey of self-discovery and wardrobe reinvention. This fall, the author is ditching the fantasy of fall and opting for a wardrobe that reflects the real weather of the Lone Star State. Mules, mock necks, and short sleeve sweaters are set to be the stars of the author's autumn wardrobe, with a focus on using colour and texture to channel the essence of fall while staying true to the warm weather.
Amidst this transition, the author is also undergoing yoga teacher training, a journey that mirrors the darkness and confusion often associated with change. Rolf Gates once said, "When we feel lost or uncertain or blocked from our own truth, it helps to remember that darkness and confusion, too, are part of the path." The author wholeheartedly agrees, welcoming the pain and turbulence in the world as it leads to growth.
To complement this introspective journey, the author has curated two fall playlists: "Feel Good Fall" and "Cheel Good Fall". The former features upbeat tunes from artists like Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Emily King, and Van Morrison, while the latter offers a more melancholic vibe with artists such as Iron & Wine, Jose Gonzalez, Alexi Murdoch, and She & Him. Music, the author's favourite thing to share, is a constant companion in these transformative times.
In addition to music, the author also finds solace in yoga, following Yoga with Adriene for flows. To build an intentional at-home yoga practice that complements the training, the author uses the Calm App for a 10-minute guided meditation before each session.
The author's yoga teacher training is taking place at the author's home studio, making it a deeply personal and intimate experience. Interestingly, this is the very first yoga teacher training in Abilene. The author invites readers to share their fall playlists, yogi YouTubers, and updates about their lives, turning this journey into a shared experience.
As the author navigates through these dark days, months, or seasons, they remind us all that it's okay to feel lost and uncertain. Aaron and the author, in an effort to combat this feeling, have been trying to decrease their TV time and instead take long walks, engaging in long conversations. The author shares that it's okay to have dark days, months, or seasons, and that embracing the start of fall as a chance for a fresh start can be a powerful catalyst for growth and self-discovery.
In the spirit of building connections, Aaron and the author have been using personality tests as conversation starters. The author encourages readers to do the same, fostering understanding and empathy in our interactions with others.
As the leaves continue to fall and the days grow shorter, join the author in embracing the journey of self-discovery, introspection, and growth that is the essence of fall.
