CUCSU Elections: Dedicated Polling Centre for Visually Impaired Voters

The upcoming CUCSU and hall unions election will feature a dedicated polling centre for visually impaired voters. This initiative aims to ensure accessibility and inclusivity. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about misinformation and cyberbullying on social media, with calls for administrative action.

Campaigning for the elections concluded on October 15. To facilitate voting for visually impaired individuals, a separate booth will be established on the second floor of the CUCSU building. This booth will be supervised by two election commissioners, ensuring a smooth and accessible voting process.

In the lead-up to the election day, the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed Shampritir Shikkharthi Jote panel has alleged an increase in false information and cyberbullying on social media. Despite these concerns, no visible administrative action has been taken. The panel has demanded the formation of an emergency response team to handle election complaints, citing past complications. Notably, the CUCSU itself has previously requested an emergency relay for managing election contact issues.

The dedicated polling centre for visually impaired voters is a commendable step towards inclusive elections. However, the issue of misinformation and cyberbullying on social media remains a concern. The formation of an emergency response team to handle complaints could help address these issues and ensure a fair election process.
