Colorado’s free preschool enrollment opens December 9 for 2026-27
Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program (UPK) will open enrollment for the 2026-27 school year on December 9, 2025. Families across the state are being urged to apply early to secure their preferred preschool placements for the coming academic term. The program, launched in 2023, has already served over 87,000 children statewide. It offers up to 15 hours per week of tuition-free preschool for children in the year before kindergarten, with extra hours available for qualifying families. On average, families save around £5,100 per year in preschool costs. Governor Jared Polis has highlighted the program’s success, noting it serves tens of thousands of children while building a strong foundation for their future. Applications can be submitted online at https://upk.colorado.gov, where families can also browse available providers.
