Children's homes and schools for children with special needs will receive the journals 'Yologa' and 'Bi kin'
A new charity campaign in the Republic of Komi will bring local-language magazines to children in care. The Ministry of Education and Science has backed the initiative, called 'Kind Subscription'. It aims to connect young readers with Komi culture through printed publications.
The campaign will deliver subscriptions to two Komi-language magazines, Yöloga and Bi Kin. These will go to five orphanages and three special needs schools over the next 12 months. Organisers hope the magazines will encourage children to engage with their native language.
The project involves the Republic Newspaper Editorial Office and Komi Publishing House. Their publications will form the core of the subscription packages. No other organisations have been named as participants so far.
The subscriptions will reach eight institutions across the region. Each delivery will include magazines designed to promote Komi traditions and literacy. The Ministry of Education and Science has confirmed its support for the full duration of the campaign.
