Children Finding a Shelter: Long-Term Guardians Recognized for their Devotion

Helmstedt, Germany – County Commissioner Gerhard Radeck recently acknowledged long-standing foster parents who have served the county for at least two decades, providing a home for foster children. The recognition was announced in a press release issued by the county.

The invitation extended to all foster parents who have been active in the county for at least two decades, some having been foster parents for over half a century. This appreciation ceremony took place in a large conference room of the county administration, where more than a dozen of the honorees received certificates of honor and small gifts.

In his speech, Commissioner Radeck highlighted that taking in a foster child is more than setting up an additional bed. It involves dealing with authorities, managing one's own and the child's emotions, and being open to forming bonds that may be temporary. He emphasized that even a small token of appreciation cannot measure the impact foster parents have on children and society.

The county plans to repeat recognitions of long-time foster parents in regular intervals.

Despite the current need for foster parents, there remains a critical requirement. Interested individuals can provide a temporary or permanent home for children in need by reaching out to the Youth Department for a casual conversation and question-and-answer session at any time.

While becoming a foster parent in Helmstedt County generally involves basic eligibility checks, background assessments, mandatory training, a home evaluation, official approval upon criteria fulfillment, and ongoing support, the most accurate and up-to-date information specific to Helmstedt County can be obtained directly from the local Jugendamt (Youth Welfare Office) or social services department.

  1. Commissioner Radeck emphasized that being a foster parent involves more than just providing a home, it also includes dealing with family-dynamics, managing emotions, and forming relationships.
  2. The county encourages individuals to consider education-and-self-development through fostering, as it offers a chance for personal-growth and making a positive impact on children and society.
  3. As the county plans to repeat recognitions for long-time foster parents, it's crucial for the continued well-being of children in need that there are more individuals who are willing to participate in home-and-garden, opening their doors to provide a temporary or permanent lifestyle for these children.
