Biologikum Mittelhessen to Expand Offerings - Central Hesse Biology Centre thrives after a successful inaugural year

The Central Hesse Biology Centre (Biologikum Mittelhessen) has completed its first watch with strong participation. Over 670 people took part in workshops, research projects, and training sessions. Now, the centre is looking to grow further by securing a main event sponsor and expanding its biology programmes to new audiences.

Led by biology professor Peter Ebke, the centre also counts renowned science presenter Harald Lesch as its scientific director. During its inaugural year, activities focused on ecology, microbiology, and hands-on research. Students, trainee teachers, Erasmus exchange participants, and local clubs all engaged in the sessions.

The Biology Centre’s expansion includes new public sessions, specialised outreach, and a move to better-equipped facilities. With a main event sponsor still needed, the centre continues to build on its first-year success. The planned Rathausfest in Wernigerode will also provide additional opportunities for community engagement.
