CBSE Introduces Two-Phase Class 10 Board Exams in 2026
CBSE has announced a two-phase system for Class 10 board exams in 2026, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. This new structure provides students with an improvement chance within the same academic year.
The main phase of Class 10 exams is scheduled from 17 February 2026 to early March 2026. Students who miss a subject or underperform will have another opportunity between mid-May and early June 2026. This second chance reduces pressure on students and allows them to improve their scores.
CBSE has released date sheets well in advance for both Class 10 and Class 12. For Class 12, the main session is from 17 February 2026 to early April 2026. The second session or improvement option may extend into July in special cases. Schools and teachers have clarity on schedules, enabling structured preparatory programs.
Students are advised to download and print their date sheets, map their revision schedules, and plan for the improvement module if needed. The early release of date sheets allows better time management and revision planning.
