Career & College Expo: A 'One-Stop Shop' for High School Students
A career and college expo was held recently to guide high school students in their path to colleges, universities, or trade schools. The event, aiming to be a 'one-stop shop' of resources, attracted more than 80 public and private educational institutions and companies.
The expo offered workshops, networking opportunities, and the chance to meet professionals in various fields such as technology, animal sciences, healthcare, and skilled trades. Companies and corporations were also invited to speak about internships and entrepreneurship opportunities. Some notable participants included Legal Tribune Online (LTO) with DLA Piper law firm recruiters, the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) via its Academy for Education & Career (ABK), and the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Austria with schools and dual training programs. The Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium was supported by the Chemical Industry Fund, while the UKE offered workshops at their Talent!Campus. Various career fairs took place in locations such as Munich, Bayreuth, and Greifswald with diverse company participation across many sectors, including sustainability and green careers at specialized sustainable career fairs. LMU Munich Career Services also collaborated with employers for the event.
The career and college expo provided a comprehensive platform for students to explore their future educational and career paths. With a wide range of institutions and companies present, students had ample opportunities to learn about different industries, internships, and educational programs.
