Campagna Center's Wright to Read Wins 2025 Mentoring Award
The Campagna Center's Wright to Read program has been recognised with the prestigious 2025 Champions of Mentoring Award by Mentor Virginia. The program, which has been supporting Alexandria's youth for 45 years, received the award at a ceremony in Richmond on October 23, 2025.
Wright to Read, which trains and pairs reading tutors with elementary students, has had a significant impact on the city. This year, 138 students, including Thomas A. Edison High School tenth grader Nik Pirouz, participated in the program. Pirouz, who has been part of Wright to Read for six years, has seen his reading skills expand beyond English and literature.
The program's influence extends beyond literacy, fostering mentoring relationships that benefit both students and volunteers. Wright to Read was one of six programs across Virginia to receive the Champions of Mentoring Award in 2025.
The Campagna Center's Wright to Read program was honoured for its outstanding contribution to mentoring. The award recognises the program's dedication to supporting Alexandria's youth and its positive impact on the community.
