Brendan Fraser’s Family Finds a Fresh Start in Osaka After Leaving Canada
Entrepreneur Brendan Fraser and his family, including his wife and two young children, left Canada in May 2024, seeking a quieter life abroad. They initially moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand, but found it wasn't the right fit. In July 2024, they purchased a home in Osaka, Japan, for 49.8 million Japanese yen (around €281,000) and moved there permanently.
Fraser, now a part-time content creator in Osaka, decided to relocate to spend more time with his family. He found the pace of life in Japan more suited to his needs, allowing him to be more present with his loved ones. After a year, the family bought a home remotely and returned to Osaka. The family struggled to integrate into the local community in Chiang Mai and found the year-round heat challenging. Osaka was chosen for its family-friendly neighborhoods, international airport, and amenities similar to Tokyo but on a more livable scale. Fraser is learning Japanese and finds the language barrier challenging but manageable with the locals' patience and kindness.
The Fraser family's journey took them from Canada to Thailand and finally to Osaka, Japan. They found a slower pace of life and a welcoming community in Osaka, which has allowed them to be more present with each other. Brendan Fraser continues to work as an entrepreneur and content creator, balancing his professional life with his family's newfound quality of life.
