Braunschweig Gets 19M Euro Boost for Fire Station, Sports, and Education
Braunschweig is set to receive a significant boost with 19 million euros from Lower Saxony's funding initiative for municipalities. This windfall will accelerate the construction of the new Geitelde/Stiddien fire station, among other projects.
The 'Pakt für Kommunalinvestitionen' has allocated a total of 600 million euros for municipal news programs in Lower Saxony. Braunschweig's share, 19 million euros, will be used for crucial projects in sports, education, fire protection, and disaster relief.
Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum has stressed the importance of investing in these areas. The city council will decide on the proposed use of funds after consultations in relevant committees on November 4. The new fire station, named 'Feuerwehrhaus Geitelde/Stiddien', is one of the key projects. Other initiatives include a new sports hall for Grundschule Melverode, conversion of a sand pitch to artificial turf, modernization of the district sports facility Stöckheim, and purchase of six new fire service emergency vehicles.
Braunschweig's 19 million euros from the 'Pakt für Kommunalinvestitionen' will bring substantial improvements to the city. The accelerated construction of the Geitelde/Stiddien fire station and other projects in sports and education will enhance public safety and community well-being.
