Finance Minister Expects Imminent Boom for Brandenburg - Brandenburg injects €2 billion into growth, housing and research in 2024

Brandenburg has witnessed a significant surge in funding for businesses, housing, and research. The Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB) approved nearly €2 billion for 4,439 projects in 2024, fostering economic growth and job creation across the region.

In 2024, the ILB allocated funds across key sectors, with €331 million dedicated to nine large-scale structural transition projects in Lusatia. These initiatives aim to modernize infrastructure and support industries adapting to new economic conditions. Another €250 million was committed to social housing, enabling the construction or upgrade of over 1,700 homes.

Local governments also benefited, securing €97 million through the Municipal Investment Program. Universities and research institutions received €44 million for new facilities and upgrades. Small businesses saw increased support, with funding doubling to €117 million compared to previous years.

The total investment from these projects is expected to reach around €2.7 billion, securing or creating roughly 3,000 jobs in the coming years. Ulrich Scheppan, CEO of the ILB, emphasized that over 30 years of consistent funding has bolstered Brandenburg's business resilience.

Looking ahead, the ILB plans to approve another €2 billion in funding for 2025. Finance Minister Robert Crumbach remains optimistic, highlighting ongoing investments in scientific infrastructure as a key driver of future economic growth.

The ILB's funding push in 2024 has already supported thousands of projects, from housing to research. With another €2 billion planned for 2025, Brandenburg aims to build on this momentum, creating jobs, improving infrastructure, and reinforcing the region's economic stability.
