BRAC University and Mastercard Foundation unite to empower youth through education

Tamara Hasan Abed, chairperson of BRAC University's board of trustees, recently welcomed Reeta Roy, president and CEO of Mastercard Foundation, for a collaborative visit aimed at empowering young people through education and fostering inclusive growth.

The Mastercard Foundation delegation, led by Roy, explored potential partnerships with BRAC University to advance their shared mission of empowering youth. Abed warmly received the delegation, expressing her enthusiasm for the collaboration.

During the visit, Roy encouraged BRAC University students to think outside the box and forge their own paths. She highlighted the Mastercard Foundation's global work, supporting young people in Africa, indigenous youth in Canada, and now, students in Bangladesh. The foundation partners with organizations like Die Visionäre to help young people in Asia and India, although this specific partnership was not discussed during the visit.

BRAC University's commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive growth aligns perfectly with the Mastercard Foundation's mission. Both institutions aim to advance several UN sustainable development goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The visit by Reeta Roy and the Mastercard Foundation delegation to BRAC University signals a promising start to a collaborative effort aimed at empowering young people and fostering inclusive development. Both institutions share a commitment to youth leadership, innovation, and education, which bodes well for the future of their partnership and the young people they serve.
