Blues and Ameren launch career program for students beyond NHL play

The St. Louis Blues and Ameren have launched a new initiative to expand the Future Goals™: Hockey Careers Beyond the Ice program. Starting in the 2025-26 school year, 30 schools across Missouri and Illinois will take part in the multi-year project. Around 1,200 students in grades six through nine will explore career opportunities within professional nhl games through this free educational course.

The program’s latest module, Hockey Careers Beyond the Ice, helps students discover diverse roles in hockey operations. Over four interactive lessons, they will study Facilities Operations, Player Performance, Fan Engagement, and Business Intelligence. The course aligns with the National Career Clusters® Framework, Common Career Technical Core (CCTC) Career Ready Practices, and Canadian provincial curriculum standards.

Teachers in the U.S. and Canada can access the materials at no cost, including implementation guides, offline resources, and built-in assessments. The Blues organisation has highlighted its commitment to offering unique learning experiences for local youth, with Ameren’s support making the expansion possible. The Future Goals program, powered by Everfi, marks its 12th year of supporting education. Developed in collaboration with the NHL and NHLPA, it has already reached over five million students in 10,000 schools. Ameren emphasised its belief in investing in community futures by providing students with pathways to careers beyond playing nhl games.

The initiative will roll out in 30 schools next academic year, giving students hands-on exposure to hockey industry careers. Free resources and structured lessons aim to prepare them for future opportunities in the sport. The program builds on a long-standing partnership between the Blues, Ameren, and Everfi to expand educational access in the region.
