Berlin’s Teufelsberg to Become a Global Hub for Art, Research and Innovation

Teufelsberg, once a U.S. intelligence listening post during the Cold War, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation. The historic site in Berlin will now serve as a beacon for art, freedom, and societal change, thanks to the ambitious plans of the IGTB GmbH & Co. Investorengemeinschaft Teufelsberg KG.

The IGTB envisions the Teufelsberg Campus as a dynamic space for ideas and collaboration. It aims to unite research, education, business, and the arts at the 50,000-square-meter site. Plans include partnerships with universities, living labs for applied research, scholar and researcher residencies, and formats for political education and public discourse. The project also seeks to strengthen collaboration between academia, industry, and civil society, fostering knowledge transfer and promoting international dialogue.

Art and culture will remain integral to Teufelsberg’s identity. Street art exhibitions and experimental formats are designed to spark fresh perspectives and inspire visitors. The project is currently backed by Brain City Berlin, the Technical University of Berlin, the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) SDG 11 Chair Hub, URBAN UTOPIA, and the Berlin Science Week.

The Teufelsberg Campus aims to be a hub for international exchange and a real-world laboratory for transformation. It envisions the hill as a place for scientific and practice-oriented projects, particularly in environmental, climate, and sustainability research. With the support of various institutions, the IGTB is advancing this vision, set to turn the historic site into a thriving center for innovation and societal progress.
