Berlin’s Green Week 2023 Spotlights Central Asia’s Vibrant Culture and Cuisine
Berlin’s Green Week, one of the city’s oldest and largest trade fairs, has wrapped up another successful year. The event drew over 400,000 visitors and featured 1,400 exhibitors from 60 countries. This year’s fair highlighted sustainability, climate protection, and diverse international products—including standout contributions from Central Asia.
The fair, running since 1926, remains a key platform for global food, agriculture, and cultural exchange. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan made strong impressions with their unique offerings. The Tajik delegation, led by Nigina Anvari, presented dried fruits, nuts, honey, and chocolate-covered plums—a specialty that sold out repeatedly. Traditional clothing, such as the 'Djoma' coat and 'Toki' headgear, also attracted attention.
Uzbekistan’s pavilion, organized by Akmal Kosymov, showcased fruit varieties, traditional bread, and desserts like Uzbek plov and manti. Ceramic tableware and artistic souvenirs from the country drew particular interest, with organizers noting their potential in European markets. The participation of these Central Asian nations added fresh diversity to the event. Organizers confirmed that their involvement will continue as a regular feature in future editions.
Green Week 2023 reinforced its role as a major international fair, blending tradition with modern themes like sustainability. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan’s exhibits stood out, offering visitors a taste of Central Asian culture and cuisine. Their continued presence is now expected to be a permanent part of the event’s programme.
