Makayla Trevor, a distinguished student at Beechwood High School, has been awarded the 2025 Sarah E. Menez Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, established by the Beechwood Band Boosters and Joseph Menez in 2014, is annually bestowed upon a senior attending Beechwood High School who embodies the personal qualities of Sarah Menez, demonstrates musicianship, and shows academic promise.

Trevor, a recognised figure at Beechwood High School for her academic achievements, has been an active member of the school's band program. She was a part of the Beechwood Marching Tigers from 2019 to 2025, serving as the marching band front ensemble and indoor percussion's assistant section leader (2023-2024) and section leader (2024-2025). Her involvement in the band program may have contributed to the Beechwood Marching Tigers receiving the prestigious Sudler Shield Award in 2022.

In addition to her band activities, Trevor has also excelled in other areas. She was a member of the Jazz ensemble for one year (2025) and served as the Sound Assistant for the school's musical from 2022 to 2024. Her dedication to academics has been evident, as she was a BOA National Semifinalist in 2019, 2022, and 2023, and a KMEA State Championship winner in 2019, 2021, and 2023.

Trevor's commitment to service is also noteworthy. She has volunteered at La Soupe and managed the Beechwood Brew, demonstrating her dedication to her community.

The Sarah E. Menez Memorial Scholarship, which provides tuition assistance to a student who has been accepted at an accredited college or university, is a testament to Trevor's hard work and dedication. More information about the scholarship can be found on the Beechwood Bands website (www.beechwoodbands.org).

Andy Cullison, the Beechwood Band Boosters President, expressed his congratulations to Trevor, recognising her as a high achiever among her peers. Contributions to the Sarah E. Menez Memorial Scholarship can be donated to the Beechwood Band Boosters at 54 Beechwood Road, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017.

As Trevor embarks on the next phase of her academic journey, her achievements at Beechwood High School will undoubtedly serve as a shining example for future students.

Trevor's relentless pursuit of education and self-development in Kentucky was showcased through her active involvement in Beechwood High School's band program, Jazz ensemble, and volunteering at La Soupe. This dedication earned her the 2025 Sarah E. Menez Memorial Scholarship, a financial aid for post-secondary education at an accredited institution.
