Bangladesh's Maritime Academy Graduates 79 Cadets in 14th Batch Ceremony

The International Maritime Academy in Pubial, Gazipur, recently celebrated the graduation of its 14th batch of pre-sea cadets. A total of 79 students completed their training, marking another milestone for the institution. The ceremony was attended by Md Muhidul Islam, additional secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, who served as the chief guest.

The academy, established as Bangladesh's first permanent private maritime training institution, has been holding passing-out ceremonies since 1 March 2010. Its programmes follow the syllabus approved by the Department of Shipping and Bangladesh Maritime University.

This year's graduating class included 50 cadets from the nautical division and 29 from the engineering division. Among them, Cadet Md Fahim Foysal earned the gold medal for overall best performance. Cadet Sheakh Tasbeh Kabir Sampad received the silver medal as the top nautical cadet, while Cadet Md Tanvirul Islam was awarded the silver medal for being the best in the engineering division.

The academy continues its training programmes with 70 cadets from the 15th batch and 29 ratings from the 10th batch currently undergoing instruction.

The graduation ceremony highlights the academy's role in producing skilled maritime professionals. With its structured training and official recognition, the institution remains a key contributor to Bangladesh's maritime sector. The newly graduated cadets are now prepared to enter the industry as qualified officers.
