Bangladesh Medical University hosts roundtable on advancing residency programs

A roundtable discussion on improving postgraduate medical education took place at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) on Saturday. Titled ‘Advancing Residency Programme of Postgraduate Medical Education in Bangladesh’, the event brought together key figures in medical training and policy to address current challenges and future directions. The meeting was held at BMU’s Shaheed Dr Milton Hall, with Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief advisor, attending as chief guest. Vice-Chancellor Md Shahinul Alam presided over the session, outlining the university’s recent efforts to enhance medical services, education, and research. The roundtable provided a platform for experts to share insights on residency training and policy reforms. While the presence of Professor Mohammad Saiful Islam, president of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), was not confirmed, the event highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen postgraduate medical education across the country.
