The 14th edition of the Bach Competition for Young Talents is underway in Köthen. Over 60 young pianists, aged 7 to 18, from Germany and Switzerland, have gathered to perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach and other pieces spanning various musical periods.
The competition, held in the town where Bach served as Hofkapellmeister from 1717 to 1723, is a testament to the composer's enduring legacy. The event began in 1967 and has since become a prestigious platform for young talent.
This year, the participants will showcase their skills in the Hofkapellensaal of Köthen Castle, with a five-member jury, led by a yet-to-be-announced chair, assessing their performances. The competition will culminate in a prize winner's concert at the historic St. Agnus Church.
The Bach Competition for Young Talents in Köthen continues to foster musical excellence, providing a stage for the next generation of pianists to interpret the masterpieces of Bach and other composers. The final results and prize winner's concert are eagerly anticipated.
