Astana’s Analytics School trains future professionals in data-driven governance

The fifth intake of the Analytics School in Astana has begun, drawing over 1,000 applicants for just 71 places. This year’s programme, titled Smart Governance: Data, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence for Effective Public Administration, will run for eight weeks with a focus on strengthening analytical skills among young professionals.

The course will cover seven key areas, blending lectures from leading Kazakhstani and international experts. Among the speakers is Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education. Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate, delivered the opening lecture on the conceptual foundations of analytical work in the digital era.

Participants will collaborate in groups on practical projects, developing teamwork, data analysis, and decision-making abilities. The programme is designed to enhance digital competencies while fostering constructive values among future professionals. At the end of the eight weeks, a compilation of analytical materials and a final report will be published. These documents will include policy recommendations for parliamentarians and government agencies. The initiative aligns with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s emphasis on training a new generation of skilled analysts. The Senate Speaker highlighted the five-year partnership between the Senate and experts from various fields. Together, they have built a community dedicated to understanding key processes and contributing to Kazakhstan’s development. The Analytics School and the Senate’s Expert Club remain central to this effort.

The programme will conclude with actionable recommendations for policymakers. Its focus on data-driven governance reflects a broader push to modernise public administration. Successful participants will join a growing network of professionals equipped to tackle challenges in the digital age.
