Assam University Hosts Three-Day Innovation Mentorship for PM SHRI Schools

A three-day Regional Mentoring Session (RMS) on Innovation will take place at Girijananda Chowdhury University in Azara from February 4 to February 6. The event targets teachers and students from PM SHRI schools, aiming to build skills in ideation, design thinking, and problem-solving. Organisers include the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, NCERT, and the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL).

The session will be led by Nandajit Rabha, Nodal Centre Head from the MoE Innovation Cell, and Prof S Robert Ravi, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at the university. Participants can expect foundational training in Design Thinking, AI applications in school innovation, and hands-on prototype development. A visit to the university's Incubation Centre is also part of the programme.

Specialised technical workshops will be conducted by experts from the Wadhwani Foundation. These will introduce structured innovation frameworks, including 'Spark Quest' and the D.I.S.R.U.P.T model. The goal is to turn PM SHRI schools into centres of creativity, where students and teachers mentor neighbouring schools.

The RMS initiative seeks to equip young innovators with skills needed for the 21st century. While this event is focused on the Guwahati region, similar sessions may be held elsewhere under the same collaboration between the MoE Innovation Cell, NCERT, and DoSEL.

The programme will run for three days, offering practical training and expert-led workshops. By fostering innovation and mentorship, it aims to strengthen the role of PM SHRI schools in their communities. The event reflects ongoing efforts to integrate modern problem-solving techniques into school education.
