Arnsberg & Meschede Launch Inter-Municipal Youth Art School
Arnsberg and Meschede are set to expand their cultural education landscape with the establishment of an inter-municipal youth art school. Funded for three years by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by Förderkreis Kunst und Kultur Kloster Wedinghausen e. V., the project aims to provide a 30-hour cultural participation offer for children and young people.
The project is guided by the experienced 'Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte mühle e.V.' from Schmallenberg, led by Beate Herrmann, which assists Arnsberg and Meschede in the founding phase. The 'Kunstmobil (KUMO)' will visit sites in both cities to develop the cultural participation offer. The youth art school will offer decentralized cultural youth work by networking local artists from Arnsberg, Meschede, Sundern, and surrounding areas. Activities to network artists and facilities will commence this year, involving cities like Sundern as well. Kirsten Minkel and Anne Wiegel will coordinate the project, aiming to introduce a joint cultural education program next year based on a pedagogical concept, involving various facilities and artists.
Arnsberg and Meschede cover roughly a third of the project's costs as their own contribution. The inter-municipal youth art school is expected to enrich the cultural education landscape, providing a platform for young talent to explore and express their creativity.
