Archdiocese of Cincinnati Renews Partnership with Girl Scouts
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio have renewed their partnership, ending a two-year hiatus. Archbishop Dennis Marion Schnurr and Girl Scouts President Aimée Sproles signed a memorandum on September 29, 2025, allowing Catholic Girl Scouts to participate with the support of their family and the Catholic community.
The archdiocese previously terminated its partnership in October 2024 due to concerns about gender ideology and LGBTQ+ materials in the Girl Scouts' programs. However, both parties engaged in 'intentional dialogue' leading to the reinstatement of their relationship.
The renewed partnership comes with certain conditions. Girl Scouts must include a disclaimer on their webpage regarding the archdiocese's endorsement of their policies. The archdiocese alone determines if Girl Scouts' policies or programs violate its teachings on faith or morals. Additionally, Girl Scouts will be required to sign a facilities use agreement approved by the pastor before gathering at an archdiocese facility. Employees, representatives, or volunteers at these facilities must not advocate or promote policies contradicting Catholic teaching.
The renewed partnership allows Catholic Girl Scouts to participate in Girl Scouting with the support of their family and the Catholic community. However, it also ensures that the archdiocese's teachings on faith and morals are respected and upheld within its facilities.
