Anglican Communion Welcomes New Theological Education Leader
The Anglican Communion welcomes a new leader for its theological education efforts. The Rev. Victor Atta-Baffoe, bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Coast, Ghana, has been appointed as the new chair of the Commission for Theological Education in the Anglican Communion (CTEAC). He succeeds the Most Rev. Howard Gregory of Jamaica.
Atta-Baffoe brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Before his election as bishop, he served as the dean of St. Nicholas Theological Seminary in Cape Coast for 12 years. His commitment to theological education is evident in his belief that it equips the church for faithful witness, discipleship, and mission, and fosters dialogue among Anglicans.
The new chair is also a member of the Judicial Council of the Republic of Ghana and the International Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission. He has previously served on the Inter-Anglican Doctoral and Theological Commission and Covenant Design Group, and was honoured with the Lambeth St. Augustine's Cross Award. The Rev. Stephen Spencer, welcoming Atta-Baffoe to CTEAC, expressed confidence in his guidance for the commission.
CTEAC aims to build upon and expand the work of Theological Education in the Anglican Communion, enhancing networking and developing online resources. With 38 provinces having a nominated CTEAC commissioner, Atta-Baffoe's leadership is expected to strengthen theological education across the global Anglican Communion.
The Rev. Victor Atta-Baffoe's appointment as the new chair of CTEAC signals a continuation of the commission's commitment to theological education. His extensive experience and dedication to this field promise to drive progress in enhancing networking and developing online resources, further equipping the Anglican Communion for its mission.
