Get ready for a major overhaul at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai campus in Dubai Silicon Oasis! The entirely revamped RIT Dubai, boosted by a substantial AED 313 million investment, is set to more than double its existing size, promising to become a beacon for knowledge and innovation.
The development plans call for 85,000 additional square meters of state-of-the-art educational infrastructure, bringing the campus's total footprint to a staggering 124,000 square meters - a mind-boggling 217% increase! This expansion will cater to up to 4,500 students, nearly a 115% surge from the current 2,100.
The expansion will unfold in two captivating stages:
- Phase One (Q1 2027): This early stage will unveil academic and administrative buildings, a dining hall, and a student center to instill a sense of community.
- Phase Two (Q3 2028): This later phase will introduce research labs, a library, lecture halls, and specialized centers. The grand finale: five integrated research centers focused on energy sustainability, smart cities, innovation and entrepreneurship, modern manufacturing, and catering for students of different abilities.
These centers of excellence bolster Dubai's 2040 Urban Master Plan and pave the way for the emirate's economic diversification.
The expansion is a testament to Dubai's ambition to cultivate an adaptable educational system that stays at the forefront of technological advancements, fuels groundbreaking research, and fosters a knowledge-driven economy.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), shares that this initiative underscores Dubai's unwavering commitment to establishing an educational system ready for the future.
Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, underlines how the project will cement Dubai Silicon Oasis' status as an educational and digital innovation hub.
